In today’s workplace and event culture, first impressions matter more than ever. Whether you’re onboarding new team members, hosting a major event, or rallying employees for a sports initiative, the right kit doesn’t just say “we thought of everything.” It says “you belong here.”

At Sunday, we specialize in creating high-quality, fully branded kits tailored to the moment. From sleek onboarding sets to playful event packages and energizing sports gear, we’ve designed and produced kits that connect people to your brand in a meaningful, lasting way.

Let’s take a look at some of the standout kits we’ve created and how they’ve brought brands to life.

1. deel.

One of the most detailed and carefully curated kits we’ve built came from our collaboration with Deel for their global SKO event in Mexico City. This kit was designed as an event-ready pack a: practical, polished, and tailored for a high-energy week. It featured a crisp white t-shirt, a bamboo thermos for long event days, a branded cap, notebook and pen for taking notes during sessions, a lanyard for access, and a clean tote bag to carry it all. Every item was selected not just for usefulness, but to create a consistent, immersive brand experience that made each participant feel immediately connected and equipped.

We also created a second kit for Deel, this time focused on swag and brand engagement. It was a colorful, feel-good merch pack featuring an explosion of Deel-branded socks in every color of the rainbow, a soft picnic blanket, a bamboo bottle, a tote bag, a cap and a pen. Designed to spark smiles and shareability, this kit kept the energy high and the brand front of mind long after the event wrapped.

2. HubSpot

For HubSpot, we created a bold kit featuring a white-and-orange duffel bag, a matching towel, and a custom-printed box with playful graphics and a warm message. Fun, functional, and unmistakably HubSpot.

3. Bitpanda: Themed Kit for Bitcoin Halving 2024

This themed kit celebrated the Bitcoin Halving 2024 with flair. It featured a black event t-shirt with bold graphics, a cozy hoodie, socks and a sticker all packed in a sleek custom box. The perfect balance of hype, community, and comfort.

4. Google: GCS Benelux Team Kit

A warm and versatile kit created for Google’s GCS Benelux team. It included a t-shirt and a sweater, one playful and Google-branded, the other team-specific, along with white socks and a mug. The result was a hybrid between team merch and daily essentials.

5. Human8: Creative swag Kit

Human8’s kit used color, texture, and words to tell a story. With a teal sweater featuring the slogan “Do What Matters”, a matching graphic tee, patterned socks, a stylish tote, and a branded cap, this kit was a celebration of creative identity and shared values.

6. Anydesk

Another brand that nailed the balance between bold design and practical gifting was AnyDesk. Their kit was clean, confident, and perfectly aligned with their visual identity. Inside the box: a sleek white mug with the AnyDesk logo, a bright red notebook and matching pen, a set of bold black and red branded crew socks, and a black t-shirt tucked beneath it all. This kit worked especially well as a hybrid between remote team appreciation and branded event swag, a smart, well-executed way to make sure the brand stayed present in daily routines.

We also made a more comprehensive kit. This expanded set included a black branded t-shirt, a bold black cap, red and black socks with subtle logo detailing, a red notebook and pen combo, and a second set of striped socks to round it out. But what really stood out was the custom backpack and laptop sleeve, both subtly branded and finished with red accents for a cohesive look. Everything was tied together with premium packaging and a clear red-and-black brand story. This kit was built for real, daily use: from the office to the road, while making sure the AnyDesk identity was present at every touchpoint. It’s a perfect example of swag that feels elevated and intentional, rather than just promotional.

7. FEG & Delaware: Branded Sport Kits That Drive Team Energy

Both FEG and Delaware turned to branded sportswear to energize their teams and bring their values to life.

FEG’s kit was built for movement and motivation, featuring custom t-shirts, shorts, socks, a cap, beanie, and neck gaiter, all designed around their bold slogan “We Bet on You.” The look was dynamic, team-focused, and ready for any sports event.

Delaware’s kit took a cyclist’s approach, with sleek red cycling outfit and subtle branding. The line “we commit. we deliver.” on the back tied the company’s identity directly to action on and off the road.

Both kits united teams through movement, pride, and purpose.

8. Televic

For Televic, the goal was to make a strong and thoughtful first impression and their kit did exactly that. Featuring a white embroidered business shirt, a bright green notebook and pen, and a circuit-printed tote bag with the phrase “The future belongs to the curious,” this set was clean, modern, and purpose-driven. Every detail reflected the company’s focus on technology and innovation, making new hires feel aligned with the brand from day one.

9. Morgana Summer Kit

This summer kit for Morgana was designed to radiate fun, freshness, and bold brand personality. Packed in a branded tote bag, it included tropical swim shorts, stylish white sunglasses, a vibrant beach fan, a light blue towel with logo embroidery and two bottles of fruity drinks. Bright colors and playful elements made this kit the ultimate companion for a sunny getaway or a seasonal campaign. It’s a perfect example of how branded merch can feel like a gift, not just swag.

10. NMBS Winter Kit

A cozy and playful winter kit designed for NMBS, the Belgian railway company. It featured custom-knit socks and beanies with cheerful winter graphics in red, navy, and white. Perfect for spreading holiday spirit and keeping employees warm on the go.

Gradients are no longer just a digital design trend, they’ve become a bold statement in the world of physical merchandise. From smooth color fades to dynamic multi-tone effects, gradients can add energy, sophistication, and brand recognition to any item.

In an era where trends shift at lightning speed, 2026 is setting the stage for workwear that goes beyond basic, emphasizing customization to meet individual and organizational needs. This year, uniforms are not just about what you wear to work; they’re a statement of innovation, merging form and function with style. Whether you’re a designer on the lookout for the next big thing or an organization ready to revamp its dress code, the latest trends are transforming uniforms into a canvas for creativity and functionality. It’s a time for bold choices and innovative designs, where practicality meets cutting-edge fashion. So get ready to dive into an exciting array of trends that redefine what uniforms can be – and how they can make a difference in your professional life.

“Fashion is what you adopt when you don’t know who you are — until your uniform defines you” – Anonymous.

Sustainable Materials and Eco-Friendly Practices

As environmental concerns continue to take center stage globally, sustainable uniform trends are rising to the forefront in 2026. Apparel made from recycled materials or organic fibers is gaining popularity, reflecting a commitment to reducing ecological impact. Companies are opting for uniforms fabricated from eco-friendly fabrics like hemp, bamboo, and upcycled plastic, combining sustainability with durability. Embracing ethical production methods and fair trade practices, these uniforms symbolize a broader shift towards responsible consumption and stewardship of the planet. By incorporating sustainable elements into your workwear, you’re contributing to a greener future and supporting the global movement toward environmental responsibility.

Adaptable and Versatile Designs

Adaptable designs are defining the 2026 uniform trends, with pieces that effortlessly transition from one context to another. Garments are crafted to accommodate multiple roles throughout the day, providing flexibility and style without compromising professionalism. Convertible uniforms with detachable elements or reversible features offer a practical solution for dynamic work environments. Modular pieces that can be easily adjusted or layered ensure employees can be at their best, no matter the situation. Investing in such versatile and multifunctional uniforms showcases your organization’s commitment to innovation and adaptability in the ever-changing landscape of professional attire.

Bright and Bold Colors

Stepping away from the traditional drab palette, 2026 uniform trends are vibrant and eye-catching, utilizing bright and bold colors to inspire and energize. From bold primary shades to unexpected neon accents, these colors convey confidence and create a memorable impression. By incorporating striking hues into work apparel, organizations are promoting positivity and encouraging a more dynamic and inviting atmosphere. Besides boosting morale, colorful uniforms can enhance brand identity, helping employees stand out and make an impact. Embrace the power of color and infuse a dose of excitement and modernity into your workplace with these trend-setting designs.

Incorporating Local Culture and Heritage

Integrating elements of local culture and heritage into uniform trends will be a hallmark of 2026, reflecting a deeper connection to community and tradition. This trend celebrates diversity by embedding patterns, motifs, or embroidery inspired by regional art and history into uniform design. By paying homage to cultural roots, companies can foster a sense of pride and belonging among their employees. Such designs not only enrich the visual appeal of workwear but also promote cross-cultural appreciation and understanding. Through thoughtful design, uniforms can become a meaningful expression of identity, resonating with both wearers and those they encounter.

Enhanced Comfort and Ergonomics

Comfort and ergonomics are at the heart of 2026’s uniform trends, with a focus on enhancing the wearer’s experience. With advanced tailoring techniques and innovative fabric technology, these uniforms are designed to support ease of movement and long-lasting comfort. Features like adjustable fits, breathable materials, and seamless construction ensure that the uniform feels like a second skin throughout the day. Prioritizing comfort in your workwear choices boosts employee satisfaction and productivity, as individuals can operate at peak performance without distraction. As you embrace this trend, you’re prioritizing the well-being of your team while maintaining a sharp, professional look.

Gender-Inclusive and Non-Binary Styles

Reflecting the growing importance of inclusivity, 2026’s uniform trends are increasingly incorporating gender-inclusive and non-binary styles. This approach breaks away from conventional binary choices, offering a broader range of fit and design options suitable for diverse body types. Unisex garments and androgynous aesthetics cater to a wider audience, ensuring everyone feels represented and comfortable in their work attire. By embracing these designs, companies can foster an inclusive workplace culture that celebrates individuality and diversity. Empower your workforce with uniforms that respect and honor personal identity, reinforcing a sense of acceptance and unity across your organization.

As we step into 2026, uniform trends are reflecting the changing landscape of workwear. From technology-integrated smart fabrics to culturally-inspired designs, enhanced comfort, and gender-inclusive styles, these uniforms are crafted to promote functionality, personal expression, and inclusivity. They not only foster a sense of belonging and pride but also empower wearers through more inclusive and comfortable options. History of the Cisco Merch

Cisco’s merchandise journey began as a strategic initiative to bolster brand recognition and loyalty, coinciding with the company’s rise as a technology leader. The initiative officially kicked off in the late 1990s, during a time when tech companies started exploring the potential of brand merchandise as a supplementary revenue stream and a promotional tool. Cisco recognized the growing interest in tech-related lifestyles and sought to leverage its brand identity through thoughtful merch offerings. Early milestones included the release of branded apparel and accessories that featured the distinct Cisco logo, which became highly sought-after items among tech enthusiasts and industry professionals.

One of Cisco’s most notable campaigns was the launch of their “Innovate Everywhere” merchandise collection, which celebrated the company’s commitment to cutting-edge technology and innovation, offering credits for future purchases to encourage continued engagement. This campaign resonated with a wide audience and sparked collaborations with several tech conferences, where Cisco’s merch served both as souvenirs and as tangible reminders of their tech innovations. Throughout the years, Cisco has continued to evolve its merchandise strategy by integrating sustainable practices and expanding into eco-friendly products. The successful adaptation of the strategy reflects Cisco’s ability to remain at the forefront of technology while reinforcing its position as an ethical brand with a global reach.

Cisco’s merchandise store offers a curated selection of products that embody the brand’s commitment to innovation and quality. Each item is designed to reflect Cisco’s technological prowess and ethical values, providing customers with not just merchandise but a piece of Cisco’s identity, including software-driven innovations.

  • Branded Apparel: T-shirts, hoodies, and polo shirts featuring the iconic Cisco logo.
  • Accessories: Stylish hats, backpacks, and laptop sleeves ideal for the tech-savvy professional, showcasing the latest Cisco gear.
  • Tech Gadgets: Branded USB drives, wireless chargers, and other tech-related essentials.
  • Eco-Friendly Products: Reusable water bottles and tote bags made from sustainable materials.

What Opportunities Does the Cisco Merch Still Have?

  1. Expanding Product Lines: While Cisco offers a variety of apparel and accessories, the product range could be further diversified to include more lifestyle-oriented products. Introducing items like tech-themed home decor, fitness gear, or office supplies could appeal to a broader audience and capture different facets of consumers’ lives. For instance, launching a collection of smart home devices integrated with Cisco technology could position the brand as a leader in connected living solutions, engaging consumers who are passionate about both innovation and lifestyle enhancement.
  2. Customized Merchandise Options: Offering customizable merchandise could enhance customer engagement and loyalty. Allowing consumers to personalize apparel with their names or choose preferred colors for accessories could create a more personal connection to the brand. By facilitating a more interactive shopping experience, Cisco could increase its appeal to a wider demographic. For example, a customizable hoodie program where customers can mix and match colors and slogan placements would not only boost sales but also deepen personal investment in the brand.
  3. Enhanced Online Experience: Improvement in the online shopping experience could drive higher conversion rates and customer satisfaction. Enhancing website navigation, integrating virtual try-on features, or providing detailed video demonstrations of products can make shopping more engaging and easier. Imagine a customer visiting the Cisco merch store and, using augmented reality, being able to see how a hoodie looks on them in real-time. Such technological enhancements can make the purchasing process more enjoyable and help reduce purchase hesitation.
  4. Targeted Marketing Campaigns: While Cisco merch already benefits from tech conference collaborations, expanding marketing efforts to include targeted campaigns on social media platforms could significantly increase visibility. Engaging with technology influencers and creating social media challenges around the merchandise could boost awareness and attract a younger audience. A campaign featuring tech influencers styling Cisco merchandise in their daily lives on platforms like Instagram and TikTok could spark interest and highlight the practicality and appeal of Cisco’s offerings in various settings.
ProsCons
Reinforces Brand Identity: Cisco merch strengthens brand recognition and loyalty, creating a cohesive image that resonates with existing users and markets.Over-Saturation Risk: There’s a potential for market saturation if the merchandise offerings are too broad or not distinct, leading to diluted brand impact.
Customer Engagement: Offering innovative and customizable options encourages greater interaction, appealing to tech-savvy and trend-conscious consumers.Cost and Resource Allocation: Developing and maintaining a diverse merchandise line could require significant investment in design, production, and marketing.
Additional Revenue Stream: Merchandise provides an alternative revenue avenue, supplementing primary business operations and stabilizing income during volatile periods.Consumer Preference Shifts: Rapidly changing consumer trends may result in unsold stock if merchandise does not adapt quickly enough to market demands.
Technological Edge: As a leader in technology, Cisco can integrate smart features into its merchandise, differentiating itself and showcasing innovation.Complex Distribution Channels: Managing distribution globally can pose logistical challenges and increase costs, requiring efficient supply chain management.
Enhanced Customer Experience: Technological enhancements in the online shopping experience can attract a larger audience and improve satisfaction with the brand.Brand Perception Risk: If the quality of merchandise does not meet consumer expectations, it could negatively affect the overall perception of the Cisco brand.

What Other Brands Can Learn from the Cisco Merch Strategy

  1. Align Merchandise with Core Brand Values Cisco’s merchandise is a direct reflection of its core values in innovation and connectivity. By integrating technological elements into products, Cisco communicates its brand ethos effectively. For brands aiming to emulate this strategy, ensure that every merchandise item reinforces your fundamental brand principles to create an authentic connection with your audience, particularly tech enthusiasts and professionals.
  2. Leverage Merchandise for Brand Recognition and Loyalty Through its merch, Cisco successfully enhances brand visibility and strengthens customer loyalty. For brands looking to increase recognition, consider offering unique, high-quality items that your target audience values. This not only broadens your reach but also fosters a loyal community of brand advocates.
  3. Engage Customers through Personalized Offerings Cisco’s strategy of offering customizable products taps into the growing consumer demand for personalization. Brands can replicate this by providing options to tailor merchandise, which can attract individuals who value uniqueness and personal connection to a brand. Start by identifying personalization features that align with your brand and resonate with your audience.
  4. Create an Additional Revenue Stream Cisco’s merch approach provides an alternate income source, hedging against primary business uncertainties. Brands can follow suit by analyzing their audience to tailor merchandise offerings that supplement the main business. Begin with a pilot range to gauge interest before scaling up.
  5. Utilize Merchandise to Showcase Innovation Cisco effectively showcases its technological edge by embedding smart features in its merch. This is a great strategy for tech-driven brands aiming to highlight innovation. Begin by researching which cutting-edge technologies can be integrated into your products, reinforcing brand identity and appealing to early adopters and tech aficionados.

In many organizations, merchandise ordering and logistics are often managed independently by various departments such as HR, marketing, sales, and procurement. While this decentralized approach may seem efficient on a smaller scale, it can lead to several challenges, including inconsistent branding, duplicated efforts, and missed opportunities for cost savings. Centralizing merchandising efforts across departments offers numerous strategic advantages that can significantly enhance the effectiveness of your company’s overall marketing and branding initiatives.

1. Why centralize merchandise across departments?

Cost efficiency and budget optimization

  • Leveraging bulk orders: By consolidating orders from various departments, your company can take advantage of bulk pricing and distribution efficiency, significantly reducing the cost per item. This allows you to either stretch your budget further or allocate savings to other strategic initiatives.
  • Streamlined processes: Centralization reduces the administrative burden on individual departments, freeing up time and resources. With a single vendor or platform managing all orders and focusing on order fulfillment, the process becomes more efficient, and procurement can better manage budgets and track expenditures.

Consistency in branding

  • Unified brand identity: When each department orders merchandise independently, there’s a risk of inconsistent branding. Different colors, logos, and messaging can dilute your brand’s identity, leading to confusion among customers and employees. Centralization ensures that all merchandise adheres to a cohesive brand strategy, strengthening brand recognition and trust.
  • Enhanced brand perception: Consistency in merchandise not only reinforces your brand but also enhances how your company is perceived. High-quality, consistent branding across all touchpoints, including merchandise, can elevate your brand in the eyes of both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Guaranteed quality standards: when switching suppliers al the time there is a whole range of qualities that are possible. By centralising everything with 1 supplier they know what quality you want and you never have to worry about poor quality items carrying your branding anymore.

3. Increased creativity and innovation

  • Collaborative design: When departments collaborate, they bring diverse perspectives to the table, leading to more innovative and creative merchandise solutions. This collaborative approach can result in unique, high-impact products that serve multiple purposes across the company.
  • Access to better options: Centralization often means larger orders, which can unlock higher-quality products and more customization options. This means your merchandise can be more tailored to your brand and more appealing to those who receive it.

4. Improved inventory management

  • Resource sharing: A centralized system allows for better management of inventory, enabling departments to share resources and avoid overstock or waste. For example, excess merchandise from one department’s event can be repurposed for another department’s needs, maximizing the use of all items.
  • Reduced waste: By having a centralized inventory, you can monitor stock levels more effectively and ensure that every piece of merchandise is used strategically, reducing the likelihood of items being discarded or forgotten in storage.

5. Strengthened interdepartmental relationships

  • Fostering collaboration: Centralizing merchandise efforts encourages departments to work together, leading to stronger relationships and better communication. This collaboration can result in shared best practices, greater innovation, and a more unified approach to achieving the company’s goals.
  • Holistic strategy: When departments collaborate on merchandising, it becomes part of a broader, company-wide strategy rather than a series of isolated initiatives. This holistic approach ensures that all merchandise efforts are aligned with the company’s overarching objectives.

Why now?

  • Market competitiveness: In a highly competitive market, standing out is crucial. Centralizing merchandise efforts allows your company to present a unified, strong brand image across all touchpoints, making your brand more memorable and impactful.
  • Scalability: As your company grows, so does the complexity of managing merchandise across departments. Centralization not only simplifies management but also makes scaling your efforts easier and more efficient.

2. How to initiate cross-departmental collaboration

Functional assessment: The first step in centralizing merchandise across departments is conducting a functional assessment. This involves identifying key stakeholders or champions within each department—those who are likely to see the benefits of centralization and are willing to participate.

  • Approach: Start by having conversations with department leaders to understand their current merchandising activities and future needs. This can be done through a simple survey or document where they outline ongoing campaigns and desired products. This assessment helps in mapping out the full scope of merchandise activities within the company.
  • Leadership: Typically, a champion from the marketing department or a cross-functional role leads this initiative, working closely with our team at Sunday. This internal champion is crucial for driving the project forward, especially in the early stages of implementation.

Example of functional assessment questionnaire

At Sunday, we’ve partnered with numerous companies to streamline their merchandise strategy. With just a small input from each department, we create a clear and actionable plan tailored to your company’s needs. Connect with our experts to learn how we can help you do the same.

  • Overcoming time constraints: A common obstacle to centralization is the perceived time commitment. Departments often worry that centralizing merchandise will add to their workload, but in reality, it can save significant time in the long run. With just an hour of input from each department, we can gather enough information to streamline the process. Once the initial assessment is complete, departments will spend less time on ordering and managing merchandise than before.
  • Pilot program: It’s not necessary to get every department on board from the start. By successfully centralizing merchandise for just one or two departments, you can demonstrate the benefits and encourage others to join.
  • Scalable implementation: Begin with a pilot program involving a couple of departments. As the advantages become clear, other departments are likely to follow suit, making the transition smoother and more organic.

3. Streamlining processes and enhancing efficiency

One of the key benefits of centralization is the streamlining of the design and merchandising processes.

  • Unified design workflow: Rather than undergoing multiple design briefings and approval rounds for each department’s merchandising, we can streamline this into a single process. A comprehensive collection can be designed at the start of the year or quarter, ensuring that all merchandise aligns with the brand’s guidelines from the outset.
  • Order Management: Once centralized, the order process is simplified. There’s no need for each department to fill out vendor forms or navigate payment processes independently. This also includes streamlined payment flows, where procurement is already familiar with the vendor, reducing administrative overhead.
  • Flexibility for special requests: If a department requires specific merchandise for a unique event, we can still handle this within the centralized system. Even limited editions or small batches can be managed more efficiently, ensuring that special projects don’t dilute the overall brand consistency.

Collection Human8

4. Achieving significant cost savings and budget optimization

By consolidating orders across departments, companies can achieve substantial cost savings. Centralizing merchandise ordering doesn’t just save money; it also saves valuable time across departments.

  • Bulk ordering savings: For example, the difference between ordering 20 t-shirts versus 500 t-shirts can result in cost reductions of 50% to 60%. This means you could more than double the quantity of merchandise for the same budget, amplifying your brand’s reach and impact.
  • Time efficiency: Consider that each department might spend a full working day on managing a single order. If there are 20 orders a year across different departments, this can total 160 hours. By centralizing, we can reduce this to as few as 16 hours, saving over 140 hours annually—a significant financial saving when calculated at an average wage.
  • Budget transparency: While orders are consolidated for cost efficiency, they can still be tracked and billed according to each department’s budget. This ensures that each department benefits from the centralized pricing while maintaining clear budgetary control.

5. Final thoughts: The power of centralized merchandise

By centralizing merchandise ordering and management across departments, companies can achieve significant cost savings, streamline processes, ensure brand consistency, and foster greater collaboration. The benefits extend far beyond just the financial; they enhance brand integrity, employee engagement, and customer loyalty. At Sunday, we specialize in helping companies navigate this centralization process, ensuring that every department’s needs are met while optimizing the overall impact of merchandise on the business. Whether you’re starting with a pilot program or looking to overhaul your entire approach, our expertise in merchandise centralization can help you achieve your goals efficiently and effectively.

Why is employee retention important?

The workplace has advanced quickly in recent years, propelling us into a world where Google Meet and four-day workweeks are the norm. These shifts aren’t just trends either. Because of the recent developments in the modern workforce, businesses are now in a great position to reconsider their engagement and recognition plans to improve employee retention. Since the end of the year is approaching, it’s more crucial than ever for businesses to keep ahead. Here are 6 goals to create the Most Effective Employee Retention Strategy in 2023, incorporating the best retention strategies to ensure long-term success.

Create a Culture of Appreciation.

A culture of appreciation is one where people feel recognized for their efforts and accomplishments. In order to create a culture where employees feel appreciated and promote employee retention, there needs to be a culture of gratitude. First you need to recognize the value of each individual. You should acknowledge the contributions of every person who works at your company. Once you have done so, you must then show them that you appreciate them. The best way to do this is to reward them for their efforts. By doing so, employees will be motivated to work harder and perform better. For example, employee onboarding kits and company-branded fashion are useful tools for delivering branded experiences that demonstrate appreciation for employees and strengthen their bond with their company.

Engaging your Work Environment

A positive workplace environment helps improve employee morale, boosting productivity and making people feel valued and appreciated. It also encourages them to do their best work. According to a study conducted by the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM), companies with high levels of employee engagement had higher rates of employee retention than those with low levels of engagement. If you want to encourage your employees to stay with your organization, make sure you provide a comfortable and inviting place to work. You should also consider providing opportunities for social interaction, such as regular lunches or coffee breaks, and emphasize professional development through workshops or training sessions. For example, if you offer flexible schedules, allow your employees to take lunch breaks during the day, and provide snacks and beverages, you’re creating a welcoming atmosphere where they can come to work happy and energized.

Offer Training Opportunities

Employees who receive training and development opportunities tend to be more engaged and show increased productivity than those who aren’t offered these opportunities. In addition, research shows that companies with high levels of engagement among their workforce tend to outperform competitors in terms of profitability. The key to offering training opportunities to employees is to ensure that they are relevant to the company’s goals and objectives. For example, if your company is looking to increase sales, then offering training programs related to customer service would be a smart move. If your company is looking to reduce costs, then offering training programs focused on cost reduction would be a wise investment.

Provide employee Recognition

One of the easiest retention strategies to improve employee retention and keep your best employees happy in your organization is by providing recognition for their hard work. Recognition and rewards go hand in hand with motivation. Employee recognition is a powerful motivator because it helps people feel valued and appreciated. It can help them develop skills and improve job satisfaction. There are three main types of employee recognition programs: cash rewards, non-monetary rewards, and performance awards. So if you want to keep your best employees motivated, make sure you recognize them for their efforts. For example, recognition doesn’t always mean monetary compensation. Sometimes, it means simply acknowledging employees for their efforts. For example, if you want to thank your team members for a job well done, you could send them a box filled with branded apparel.

Build a community

Building a community within the organization that your workers want to be a part of is another crucial employee retention tactic. According to a survey, a company’s culture has a big impact on both employees who are considering applying for positions (77% stated they would take this into account) and those who stay on the job. In fact, almost two-thirds of workers named a positive workplace culture as one of the key factors in their decision to stay, contributing significantly to employee retention. When done right, the community can most commonly decrease costs and increase revenue through higher retention, brand awareness, brand loyalty, ticket deflection, content development, and member advocacy. For example, when a sense of belonging is created, a relationship is built between your members and each other. Even better, one between you and your team. Check how Lab9 built their community through company fashion.

Boost employee wellbeing

In recent years, the topic of mental health has jumped to the top of the agenda and is still a top concern for both employers and workers. Healthy behavior increases productivity and lessens fatigue in the workplace. When businesses emphasize the value of wellness and wellbeing, it communicates to their employees that they are devoted to supporting them personally. It will be crucial for businesses to implement initiatives to foster a healthier workplace by 2023. For example, helping people balance their professional and personal lives, offering mental health services, paying for gym memberships, expressing gratitude, and a host of other activities.

Conclusion

Many of the retention strategies mentioned in this list may need to be put into practice in order to create a great business culture. These initiatives could involve rewarding your staff for both success and effort, developing a compelling mission statement for your business, and including your staff in innovative decision-making about the company’s present and future. Something Sunday could assist you in as a partner.

Why a budget plan?

Investing in employee merchandise is becoming a popular way for companies to boost engagement, build loyalty, and create brand ambassadors. However, structuring a yearly budget for swag that aligns with your savings goals, finance considerations, and accommodates fixed expenses can often feel challenging. How much should you spend? What should you focus on during your cost analysis? How do you maintain a balanced yet impactful merchandise strategy?

example of an employee merchandise strategy plan

In this guide, we’ll walk you through how to budget your employee merchandise efficiently, focusing on key moments and activations, saving resources and managing it in a structured way to maximize return on investment.

1. Understand your baseline budget per employee

One of the first steps in budgeting for employee merchandise is understanding how much to allocate per employee. While the specific amount can vary depending on your industry, company size, and goals, here are three general spending ranges:

  • Low-end (75€/employee/year): Ideal for companies with a limited budget, this allows for a few key activations like onboarding or end-of-year gifts.
  • Mid-range (150€/employee/year): A recommended budget for companies looking to integrate merchandise into their culture, allowing for 4-5 meaningful activations.
  • High-end (250€/employee/year): For companies where merchandise plays a key role in employee engagement and brand building. This budget allows for regular activations throughout the year, from onboarding to special events.

Although some companies may want to segment budgets for different levels of employees, we advise keeping merchandise equal across the board to foster unity and allocate expenses wisely for impactful activations. However, specific events like executive retreats or management gatherings can have additional merchandise, allowing for a little flexibility without creating unfairness.

2. Focus on the core moments: always-on campaigns

The foundation of any merchandise strategy should be your always-on campaigns—those key moments that should be celebrated year after year. These two moments are the most crucial for any employee merchandise program: Onboarding is your company’s first opportunity to make a great impression. A well-thought-out welcome kit not only helps new employees feel like part of the team but also reinforces your brand identity from day one. It’s an important investment of money in retention and engagement right from the start. We also wrote a complete guide on starting with employee welcome kits.

Anniversaries and tenure milestones are just as vital. Recognizing employees who stay with your company shows appreciation for their loyalty and contribution. Whether it’s an annual celebration or for specific milestones like 3, 5, or 10 years, these moments should be well-executed, with thoughtful gifts that convey value and recognition.

These two core moments should be the backbone of your merchandise budget. If you compromise on these activations, you risk undermining employee engagement. Providing quality, thoughtful gifts during these milestones is essential for long-term success.

3. Build around strategic campaigns and events

Once you’ve established your always-on campaigns, it’s time to plan for additional activations. These might include seasonal activations, such as holiday or summer gifts, or company-wide events like team-building exercises. For instance, many companies choose to send out holiday gifts that reflect the season, such as cozy blankets or personalized apparel. Similarly, summer activations—like beach towels, sunglasses, or water bottles—can create positive associations as employees head off for vacation. If your company has a team-building event or sports program, incorporating financial planning can help ensure that adding branded merchandise like athletic gear or event-specific items is done within budget, boosting morale and increasing participation. The budget for these events can vary based on the scale, but the key is to ensure they align with your company’s goals, culture, and expected spending and money-related considerations. Not every event needs the same budget, but having a year-long calendar of planned activations will help you manage resources efficiently, ensuring engagement throughout the year without overloading employees with too many items.

5. Measuring ROI and employee engagement

Tracking the impact of your employee merchandise program is essential to ensure that your investment is delivering results. There are a few key metrics to consider when evaluating the effectiveness of your swag program.

The employee net promoter score (eNPS) is a valuable metric, as it measures how likely your employees are to recommend your company. Merchandise has a direct impact on eNPS by fostering a sense of belonging and brand ambassadorship. Wearability is another important measure—tracking how often employees wear or use the items you give them provides insight into the success of your merchandise choices. Items like hoodies, t-shirts, and other wearable items often have the highest ROI as they help create a visible connection between the employee and the company. You can also gather feedback from employees about the quality and usefulness of the items they receive. This data helps refine your merchandise selections and ensures that each year’s activations are more aligned with employee preferences. By integrating this feedback into your strategy, you can make your merchandise program not just a cost but a key driver of employee engagement and loyalty.

Conclusion
